Crafty Vendor Booth Display

Kharismatic Kreations often serves as a vendor at area events, selling t-shirts and spreading peace, love and kharisma along the way.  But when the host of OverAccessorized Girls Night Out, one the largest unique shopping experiences in the Baltimore Metropolitan area, gave vendors the green light to go all out and get crazy creative with vendor displays and set up (within the parameters of the event space of course); my creative light bulb started flashing and ideas started flowing. 

Kharismatic Kreations offers affordable, high quality custom printed shirts and gifts, using heat transfer printing and/or screen printing techniques.  For me, each shirt or creation is considered a work of art – a unique custom masterpiece, so I wanted my vendor booth and display to resemble an art gallery.   But not just any art gallery, I wanted it to have a pop art theme.  And it was only fitting that I focused on the work and style of Andy Warhol, one of the leading artist in the pop art movement who often used screen printing as a technique to create his famous masterpieces.    

Artistic Backdrop

First I needed a backdrop.  It had to be something compact that I could easily store and transport and I really didn’t want to have to put something together and break it down each time I had to use it.  So I set my mind on using a room divider, but where to get one fast and for an affordable price?  I searched the discount and bargain stores including the Goodwill, Ross, and TJ Max until I found a hidden gem in the youth department of Home Goods. 

It was easily foldable and could fit in my car, though it could have been a few inches taller, the height was suitable and at approximately five feet it could fit easily into my car.  But the color and princess detailing had to go.  It would have been very cute for a little girl’s room and my daughter probably would have loved it, but that was not the purpose I had in mind for it or the vision in my head.  But being short on time and cash I reluctantly purchased the room divider and thought of ways to transform it into the backdrop that I needed and envisioned.

I grabbed some chalkboard spray paint from Walmart and decided to cover the pink and princess detailing.  It took two full cans and two coats of spray paint to fully cover the pink princess room divider. 

Walmart also had these wired display racks on clearance for $1.00 each.  I spray painted them metallic gold and used them to hang my two Andy Warhol prints from Art.com:  the iconic Campbell’s Soup Can and famed Marilyn Monroe.  Using my logo, stock photo and help from a pop art photo filter app, I made my own version of a Warhol original to hang.

Directional Signage

I already have a banner with my business information on it to use for my table, but I wanted to some additional signage to point event attendees in my direction and creatively clarify what I am selling.  This idea literally popped in my head while going up and down the aisles at Walmart.  I purchased the directional chalk board at Walmart.  Because of my love for gold and glitter, I couldn’t resist adding my personal touch to the chalk board by outlining them with gold glitter. 

For the base of my sign, I used poster tube packaging and wrapping paper.  I wrapped the decorative paper tape around the tube to make a black and white chevron pole.  I used my hot glue gun to attach the chalk board signs to the poll.  I poured marbles in the tubing to give it some additional weight and added a flower from my house to the top of the tube for an additional creative touch, and to close the whole at the top.  

The Magical World of Kenedi

For my daughter’s 5^th birthday I did a “Magical World of Kenedi” Disney themed birthday party.  With weather from the movie Frozen as our backdrop, the party went on.   The Magic of Disney was found in the handcrafted party décor and store bought Disney themed decorations.

Using card stock, ribbon and free Mickey Mouse ears printables, I made a personalized banner for the event.  I printed each letter/word on the ears, cut them out and then taped it to the ribbon.

  

Sweet as a Princess Candy Buffet 

My little one is sweet on princesses so her candy buffet included homemade candy apples as Snow White’s Poison Apples, gummy worms as Belle’s Book Worms, blue candy sticks as Elsa’s Icicles, banana laffy taffy as Rapunzel’s Hair, pixie sticks as Tinkerbell's Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust, and Swedish fish as Ariel’s Fishy Friends.  I made place cards for each treat using free printable princess borders found online and some card stock paper.  Kenedi has a princess board game that I used for the pop up castle. 

Mickey and Minnie Tabletop Centerpieces

To make centerpieces for the table I used round Styrofoam balls from JoAnne Fabrics and Crafts, paint that I had on hand, toothpicks, and handy dandy red Dixie cups.  I painted the balls black and stuck the smaller balls to the larger ball as ears using toothpicks.  I hot glued the Mickey head to the bottom of the Dixie cup.  Using black cardstock, I attached arms to the cups and cut out little mickey hands.  To turn Mickey into Minnie, I simply added a bow in between the ears.  So easy my 4 year old (not quite 5 at the time) can do it, and she did!

A 52 inch Mickey Mouse balloon greeted guest as they arrived.  There was also a giant Jake and the Neverland Pirates balloon to man the pirate bean bag toss station.  Additionally, there was a moonbounce, ball crawl, twister, Disney Princess photo station, and a Doc McStuffins piñata.

Crafty Canned Goods

Finally!  A use for mix match gloves and socks.  Make a decorative vase or utensil holder in 5 minutes using an empty can.  See how I did it in the video below.  

Out With the Old...In With the New: Lamp Revamp

Continuing with the out with the old in with new theme, I made an old lamp brand new by simply embellishing the lamp shade.

Thankful For Family Table Cover

Each year my parents host a Christmas Eve dinner where all of our families gather for a moment of food, fun, and fellowship.  My mother loves pictures, and often our Christmas Eve dinner turns into impromptu photoshoots.  But it's the only time all of our family and friends, and I mean ALL, are gathered together under one roof at the same time so I don't blame her for taking advantage of the photo opportunities.  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my family; and as we are all gearing up for the holiday - planning menus, invite lists, and tablescapes, I decided to do a little Crafty Kreations table runner for my mother using all of the photos that she takes during our annual Christmas Eve dinner.

This project is really simple.  You can sew your own fabric cover using any material that you want.  I cheated and purchased one from Hobby Lobby.  Next, all you have to do is gather pictures.  Pretty easy right!  You can print the pictures on store brought heat transfer paper and iron them directly onto your table cover.  Since Kharismatic Kreations is a professional, high-quality, custom printing company, I used a commercial heat press and transfer material.  You can add as many or as few pictures as you like.  You can also add in quotes and sayings or other design elements.   For this particular project, I'm doing a collage of family photos, and leaving a little room for our growing family and the new additions soon to come.  See how the table runner is coming together in the pictures below.
